Chvnce is back and has us yearning for warmer weather with “Mellow Lane”

Music review by Danielle Johnson

Listen to ‘Mellow Lane’ on Spotify

In Chvnce’s first release since 2019, he resurfaces with a notably polished and sonically beautiful four-song EP, released through new Richmond Virginia based indie label, Good Weather Records. The title track, ‘Mellow Lane,’ released in March 2021,  features the sultry voice of R&B singer Nadjah Nicole on the chorus. Their harmonies are as sweet as coffee and cream, surrounding you with the chillest of vibes.

The promo pictures and videos for the single are sight to behold, with both Chvnce and Nadjah channeling disco royalty in their mellow yellow and earth tone hues. This song will have you doing ‘the hustle’ with its 70’s-style guitar riffs, electric boogie piano, and incredible production.

If you’re into horns (and who isn’t?), then ‘Malbec,’ featuring Eddie Dah Kid, has a bridge you’re going to flip for. The guitar textures are rich and flowy throughout the collection, including ‘Diamonds,’ featuring guitarist Pat Kane. This EP is going to taste great for fans of Lord Huron and Bahamas, and is sure to send you down the river of divine chic sounds and extreme groovitude.
